How to clean my sharpener discs? Light Use: Simply wipe the discs with a damp cloth to remove any surface residue. Heavy Use: If the sharpener has seen more extensive use, remove the discs and wash them under warm, soapy water. For an even better clean, you can rub the two discs together, face to face, with the soapy water to restore them to a like-new condition.

How do i clean the wooden body? Light Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to gently wipe off any dust or debris from the wooden surface. Deeper Cleaning: If the wood needs a more thorough clean, use a damp cloth lightly moistened with water or a mild, non-abrasive cleaner. Be sure not to soak the wood, as excessive moisture can damage it. After cleaning, wipe it down with a dry cloth immediately to prevent any water from seeping into the wood. Optional Care: For added protection and to maintain the wood’s appearance, you can occasionally apply a small amount of wood conditioner or mineral oil.

What's the white V-groove on the black base? The white V-groove is designed for a quick sharpen when you're short on time. It allows you to quickly run your knife through for a fast edge refresh. However, we don't recommend using this all the time, as it's not as thorough or precise as using the discs. It’s best used only when time is against you and you need a quick touch-up on your blade.

How do I change the stones? Unscrew the First Disc: Use your hands to unscrew the first disc. Once unscrewed, remove the disc from the shaft. Remove the Second Disc: To remove the second disc, use a screwdriver to hold the centre shaft steady while unscrewing the second disc. Replace the Discs: Once the old discs are removed, place the new discs on the shaft and secure them tightly. Reassemble: Ensure both discs are securely in place, then test the sharpener to ensure it's functioning correctly.

What disc do I use first? 400 Grit Diamond Disc: Start with the 400 grit disc to remove any nicks or dullness from the blade. This coarse grit is ideal for reshaping the edge and starting the sharpening process. 3000 Grit Disc: After the 400 grit, move to the 3000 grit disc. This medium grit refines the edge, smooths out any roughness from the initial sharpening, and gives the blade a sharp edge. 6000 Grit Disc: Finish with the 6000 grit disc. This fine grit polishes the edge, giving your knife a razor-sharp, smooth finish. For the ultimate finish use the LavaRose strop with the green media.

Is this recommended for use with Damascus blades? Yes, while Damascus steel is known for its strength and durability, our sharpener is designed to bring a great sharp edge to your blade. By following the proper sharpening sequence (starting with the 400 grit and progressing to the finer 3000 and 6000 grit discs), you can achieve an excellent sharpness without compromising the quality of the Damascus steel.
